Before I go any further with this update, I want to say I know there has been a lot of hyperbole regarding today’s severe weather threat. If your source of weather information is riddled with exclamation points, “extreme this”, “unprecedented that,” keep in mind they are profiting off your anxiety, and consider unfollowing them.

You’ll not see hype here. I lean conservative and pragmatic with my forecasts and absolutely hate people who sell clicks with flashy nonsense.

It’s a beautiful evening, the likes of which we won’t see again for weeks. Get out and enjoy it. There is nothing to be afraid of right now. Have a way to get alerts, but for now, soak in the filtered sun and 70s!

Ok, back to business. The aforementioned tornado watch has been posted and can be seen in the radar loop above. It does not include our area. Storms have begun to fire, mainly in northeast IL. I’ll keep an eye on the radar and post updates as needed.

Everyone will still see storms around midnight. We are in “wait and watch” mode until then.
