WPC Probabilistic Winter Guidance
- The most accurate, albeit frustratingly stingy, snow forecast available from NOAA
- Select the different times along the top and the various thresholds (>1”, etc) on the right.
- If this source isn’t showing much accumulation and others are, it has been my experience that this WPC guidance has been accurate 100% of the time.
- Analyzes forecast models for expected conditions then factors in things population density.
- A very good resource when snow is on the way to know what kind of impacts to expect.
- Any time we have hit “extreme” impacts (purple) there have been school delays and/or cancellations.
- Often when we hit “major” impacts (red), there are at least school delays
Experimental Snowfall Amount Potential
- Ever seen the snow maps from the national weather service on social media? These are very similar.
- Very much “experimental” in my opinion as they are often overdone.
- Fun to look at and they are adding new features more and more.
